A Nightmare on Musk Street

.

Fitting for the Halloween season, Elon Musk, the world’s richest person and the man attempting to single-handedly drag a corrupt official into the United States Senate, posted on the social media site he owns the future he dreads for America.

Let’s look at the nightmare scenario point by point.
Point one: making D.C. and Puerto Rico states is an interesting fear, as it reveals two concepts. The first is that Musk is uncomfortable with citizens of the United States actually having representation in its governing bodies. He is perfectly at ease with leaving these people in a status of being true second-class citizens. The second thing this opinion reveals is he is equally confident that the Republican Party has no ability to persuade anyone of their ideas. The GOP cannot win over voters; it can only exclude the ones that do not approve of it.
His second element about open borders and limitless regularizing of statuses is wholly unsupported by any action taken by the Democratic Party at any time this century. It is a lie meant to terrorize its audience. There is absolutely no elected leader of the Democratic Party arguing for this at all. Musk is inventing a proposal that does not exist.
The final element of his doomsday scenario is that the Democratic Party, if handed both Congress and the White House, would, after killing the filibuster no doubt, pass legislation that would expand the court, a wholly legal and constitutional manner of altering its composition. Apparently, it is an unalloyed good for the conservatives to manipulate the system in order to compose a court that is amiable to their viewpoints, which strips rights from people and makes civic participation more difficult, but a terrible, nation-ending threat if the liberal Party engages in the same legal and constitutional actions. Do not be fooled. This is not about protecting some noble and just system. It is quite plainly, arguing “We get to do it, and you do not.” He wants their manipulation of the court and no one else’s
The odds are that next week Musk will not get the Halloween he desires and, all that remains to be seen is, if in frustration, he TPs America’s house.
