Curious isn’t it?

When it comes to the economy, I read that Obama must stop blaming bush. It’s been two years, this is Obama’s economy now, not  Bush’s.

However when the subject turns to Osama bin Ladin, well that’s different, Obama must stop taking all the credit and acknowledge the debt he owes to President Bush.

This sort of thinking is why I cannot be a partisan. I could never hold both positions at the same time.

    Two years?

Obama may have only been President for a little more than two years (BTW thanx Obama for the 9% unemployment rate), but before then he was a U.S. Senator, elected in 2004. As such he was part of the Democratic majority which controlled both houses of the U.S. Congress since the election of 2006. So that’s four years of policy control not two.

In fact because of the differing powers inherent in the legislative vs executive branches of the Federal Government, whoever controls Congress pretty much sets domestic policy whereas whoever controls the Presidency pretty much sets foreign policy. That’s one reason why Clinton started focusing on foreign policy issues after losing Congress in the election of 1994.
