“I don’t think that word means what you think it means.”

The title of today’s post is of course of the many many quotable line from Rob Reiner’s classic film “The Princess Bride.” I am applying it to the Republican Primary. After all if the man who named “Front Runner” comes in third in two different primaries on the same day is it really right to keep calling him the front runner.

Of I will grant you he is the man most likely to get the nomination, but that’s not because he keeps racking up win after win. Rather he’s been adapt at utilizing his vast amount of money to bludgeon opponents to electoral death like Robert De Niro with a baseball bat.

Even with this torturer porn level of political carnage going on, Romney may still find himself at the Convention with less than the 1144 delegates required to cinch the nomination.  If that happens he’ll be close and I imagine the ‘establishment’s” super delegates will seal the deal for Romney – igniting a revolt from the Tea Party and a level a fratricide that could make Cain and Able look like poster boys for happy homes.

Personally I am hoping for an open convention. Simply because nothing like that has happened in my adult life. It would be fascinating to watch and the chaos would provide tremendous entertainment.

So much is going one, with so many moving parts, gas prices, Europeans economic woes, Iranian Nuclear ambitions, that it would foolish for anyone to declare that the election is going to go one way. This will be a two man election, it’s a shame the republicans couldn’t find a talent, sane, reasonable conservative to carry the argument.
