Sunday Night Movie:Mars Attacks

So the movie with which I return to the regular feature is Mars Attacks. Released in 1996 to a disappointed box-office, this is a Film I truly enjoy, but I suspect it was also going to be for a rather limited audience.

Mar Attacks, from director Tim Burton is a silly, nonsensical film of Earth subjected to invasion from Mars. It is based upon a series of trading cards from the Topps Company, which cause a mild sensation with their gruesome graphics and somewhat sensual nature. Continue reading

A different kind of Monday

Back from Vegas

Had a really good time in Sin City doing very little sinning. (Mainly eating too much and I gambled away $2) I’ll post more when I am not so tired.
After the cut is a cool video of a rocket launch. It looks like every other rocker launch but stay with it until about 1:53 and experience the cool

A possible break in blogging

I am just about to head out to pick up and pal, then to breakfast, and then the five hour drive to Las Vegas. I’ll be in Vegas Thursday through Saturday returning Sunday, but I don’t know what my internet situation is going to be like so this may be the first break in blogging for year 2012.

Frankly I’m shocked I made it this far into the year without missing a day.

The Time Tunnel Rewatch: Episode 2 One Way Trip To The Moon

Air Date: 16 September 1966 Writer(s): William Welch Director: Harry Harris

Summary:

Fresh from the frigid North Atlantic, Doug and Tony tumble aboard a rocket just seconds before blast-off. Hearing the countdown in progress, Doug’s worried that if this is ‘one of those early Canaveral jobs, they could be done for!’ (He doesn’t seem to know that those early Canaveral jobs barely had room for monkeys much less large room compartment for wayward tumbling time travelers.) That doesn’t mean that every second of every day will be spent gnawing the problem, but that problem will resurface in my mind, like debris after a shipwreck, fouling my thought chains at random and often inopportune times.

Here’s an excellent example. Continue reading

Sunday Night Movie: Alien

Sunday night was the 100th anniversary of the RMS Titanic disaster and I very nearly gave into the idea of re-watching James Cameron’s Titanic as my Sunday Night Movie, but to do so I would have needed start about 8:00 p.m, because Monday morning comes early enough as it is.
Instead I slipped into the Playstation 3 Ridley Scott’s 1979 masterpiece, Alien. Continue reading

Amazing

Two weeks ago I went and saw a chiropractor, at my sweetie-wife’s suggestion abut my chronic and severe knee pain. (Some days it would be so bad all I could do would be stay home and ice them.)

Well, I haven’t had any serious flares of pain from my knees in the two weeks since Dr. Mackay  (pronounced Mackai) started treating me. It has been amazing and wonderful. Next weekend, walking around Las vegas will be the acid test.
